Sifuna calls on govt to obey court orders
Nairobi senator and ODM’s Secretary General Sifuna has called on President William Ruto to obey court orders. This follows emerging reports about different ministers and principal secretaries having defied court orders from time to time
Taking it to his X handle on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, Sifuna has stated that defying court orders means abandoning values and that Kenya is guided by the rule of law, and one of these rules is to abide by the court orders
“We will not abandon the values conversation even amid all the noise. Kenyans wanted a government based on 6 essential values, including the Rule of Law. Respecting court orders is a key pillar of the rule of law. It doesn’t matter what else Ruto’s regime does, without the values conversation hakuna kitu hapo,” Sifuna said.

During the 2022 campaign period, one of the major promises by William Ruto was that he would abide by court orders once elected to office; however, according to Sifuna Ruto’s regime has gone against the values he promised to stand for.
Sifuna’s sentiments come at a time when several government officials including cabinet ministers, principal secretaries and head of parastatals have been associated with defying court orders to have defied court orders
The outspoken Senator has been, in the recent past, a critic of the Ruto regime, accusing it of undermining the Kenyan devolution system and its interference with the opposition.
Sifuna has been seemingly opposed to the broad-based government despite being the ODM Party’s secretary general, especially being more outspoken on his opposed ideologies on the broad-based government after the death of the former prime minister, Raila Ondinga
