Ruto appoints selection panels to nominate chairperson candidates for IPOA, SCR, CAJ, NGEC
President William Ruto has appointed selection panels to recruit new commissioners for four constitutional commissions and independent offices.
The panels will be tasked with nominating suitable candidates for the positions of chairpersons, board members and commissioners to replace current occupiers whose terms are expiring.
“It is notified that the terms of office for the respective chairpersons and members of four constitutional commissions and independent offices are set to lapse. The state officers appointed to the ranks of those bodies serve a single non-renewable term of six years,” Head of Public Service Felix Koskei stated.
The constitutional commissions and independent offices include the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC), the Commission on Administrative Justice (CAJ)/Office of the Ombudsman, the National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC) and the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPΟΑ).
Ruto’s appointments
For SRC, the selection panel will be tasked with the recruitment of nominees for appointment as chairperson of SRC.
Members of the SRC selection panel include Joshua Wambua, from the Association of Professional Societies in East Africa (APSEA), Patrick Mtange (Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK), Monica Sifuna (Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA) Kenya), Quresha Abdullahi (Institute of Human Resource Management), Amos Gathecha (Principal Secretary, State Department for Public Service), Mary Kimonye (Executive Office of the President), Lawrence Kibet (The National Treasury & Economic Planning) and Samuel Kaumba (Office of the Attorney General).
Ruto has also appointed the selection panel for the recruitment of nominees for the appointment of chairperson and two members of CAJ.
The members of the panel include Edwin Makori (Association of Professional Societies in East Africa (APSEA)), Zena Atetwe Jalenga (National Council for Persons with Disabilities), Jasper Mbiuki (Executive Office of the President), Susan Chelagat (Office of the Attorney-General), Patrick Wamoto (Public Service Commission) and Joan Machayo (Public Service Commission).
The president has also formed a selection panel for the recruitment of nominees for appointment as chairperson and one member of NGEC.
The members include Florence Nyole from the Association of Societies in East Africa Professional Societies in East Africa, Timothy Odongo (Kenya Private Sector Alliance), Lerina Kariringah National Council for Persons with Disabilities), Linda Musumba (Executive Office of the President), Janet Kung’u (Office of the Attorney-General), Maimuna Mwidau (Ministry of Gender, Culture, The Arts & Heritage), Reuben Chirchir (Public Service Commission) and Mary Mwiandi (Public Service Commission).
Ruto has also appointed a selection panel for the recruitment of nominees for appointment as chairperson and seven members of IPOA.
The members of the panel include Arthur Osiya (Executive Office of the President), (Rtd) Justice Msagha Mbogholi (Judicial Service Commission), Joyce Nyabuti (Public Service Commission), Monica Wanjiru Muiru (Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission), Raymond Nyeris (Kenya National Commission on Human Rights) and Caroline Naikena Lentupuru (National Gender and Equality Commission).
“The President encourages all qualified Kenyans to respond to the clarion call to serve the nation by making applications for the positions of chairperson and members of the respective commissions and offices once invitations to prospective applicants have been made,” Koskei stated.
“Further, the Head of State and Government urges all Kenyans to exercise their civic duty by submitting memoranda on the suitability of the candidates who will be shortlisted by the respective selection panels.”
