Raila meets Tanzanian opposition leaders

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga on Saturday, Wednesday, March 22, 2025, held discussions with a section of Tanzanian opposition leaders.
During the discussions, they exchanged views on a myriad of topics focused on boosting the continent’s democracy.
In particular, the ODM leader noted that they shared their views on strengthening democracy in Africa including effective contribution to national development by parties in and outside government.

“I held discussions with visiting Tanzanian opposition leaders who paid me a courtesy call.
“We exchanged views on strengthening democracy on the continent, including effective contribution to national development by parties both in and outside government,” Raila said.

Additionally, Raila encouraged the leaders to prioritize dialogue and constructive engagement with their government for the interest of Tanzania’s democracy ahead of the polls.
He also expressed optimism and anticipation of a peaceful and transparent election.

“I encouraged them to prioritize dialogue and constructive engagement with their government in the interest of the nation and the preservation of Tanzanian democracy. I look forward to a peaceful and transparent election in the upcoming Tanzianian polls,” he added.
