President William Ruto has exuded confidence that he is going to make Kenya succeed despite coming under intensive criticism in recent times.
Speaking on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, during the Ministerial performance contract signing at State House, the president said he is confident of achieving success despite the tough times the country finds itself in.
“I promise you, we will confound the naysayers. This country will not fail; it will succeed. The enemies of Kenya will be put to shame.
“Although we are in a difficult place economically, I am confident we have the team, the people, and the plan and goodwill to transform the nation. There’s no room for failure. We must succeed.
“This home that God has given us, we must work tirelessly to make it succeed, to make it great,” Ruto said.
The Head of State also touched on the issue of food importation as well as education.
“For a very long time, we have imported food in Kenya when we can produce enough food in our country. This year, by God’s grace, we will not import some of the food products, including maize.
“We are in a very pivotal moment. We have taken on a transformative pathway. We have decided this time round to bite the bullet and sort out the funding in our education sector,” he added.

Although his policies around the health sector have been hugely criticized, Ruto said he will take on the challenge and ensure there is success in the sector.
“We have taken on the responsibility of Universal Health Coverage. Two successive presidents have attempted, and they didn’t quite succeed. We have decided that we are taking on this challenge,” he continued.
On the signing of performance contracts for the ministries, Ruto said this will facilitate the building of synergy in the government.
“One ministry affects the overall performance of government. Therefore, it is our collective responsibility to make sure that using the whole-of-government approach we endure, we build the necessary synergy to succeed together.
“Over the years, performance contracting has proven to be a robust accountability framework ensuring the effective use of public resources to meet the constitutional mandate and citizens’ expectations,” he concluded.
