Police seize 20kg of cannabis in Tasia raid

Officers from Embakasi Police Station conducted a targeted operation in the Tasia Mabatini area of Nairobi County resulting in the recovery of a large quantity of cannabis sativa.

“Yesterday, officers from the Embakasi Police Station conducted an operation in the Tasia Mabatini area,” the National Police Service (NPS) stated in a post on X dated November 21, 2025.

During the operation, police searched a house belonging to a known suspect and recovered 20 kilograms of cannabis and 500 rolls of the same substance, with an estimated street value of Ksh 500,000.

The person of interest, however, remains at large, but authorities have launched a manhunt. “The suspect is still at large; however, efforts are underway to trace and apprehend him. The recovered evidence has been secured at the station,” NPS confirmed.

Ongoing anti-narcotics operations

The Tasia raid is the latest in a series of operations aimed at curbing narcotics distribution across the country. In Lamu County, police in Mpeketoni have intensified their crackdown following a successful operation in Sefu Village, Bomani.

During the Mpeketoni operation, officers recovered four large rolls of cannabis from a property. A female person of interest was arrested and taken to Mpeketoni Police Station, pending arraignment in court.

“The National Police Service reiterates its commitment to combating the distribution of illegal substances and dismantling the networks involved in the trade,” the police said regarding the incident.

Commitment to public safety

Authorities have indicated that similar operations will continue nationwide. “Similar operations will continue across the country as part of ongoing efforts to enhance public safety and security,” NPS confirmed.

The NPS commended the officers involved in the Tasia operation for their vigilance. “The National Police Service commends the officers for their vigilance and reiterates its commitment to intensifying the fight against narcotics and all forms of crime,” the statement added.
