Police raid Dagoretti kiosk, seize rolls of bhang in Nairobi crackdown
Police in Nairobi have stepped up operations against narcotics after officers from Kabete Police Station raided a kiosk in Dagoretti Sub-County and recovered bhang and cash suspected to be proceeds of crime.
In a statement shared on X on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, the National Police Service (NPS) said the raid followed information from members of the public about a premises allegedly used to sell illegal drugs.
According to the police, officers acted quickly after receiving the tip-off and carried out a search at the kiosk. One person of interest was arrested during the operation.
“Police in Nairobi have intensified efforts to disrupt the trafficking and distribution of illegal drugs as part of ongoing operations to safeguard public safety and curb substance abuse,” the NPS said.
During the search, officers recovered several items believed to be linked to the illegal trade. These included 212 rolls of bhang and 23 pellets suspected to be cannabis sativa. Police also seized cash believed to have been made from the sale of narcotics.
Authorities said the suspect was taken into custody and is expected to appear in court once investigations are complete. The recovered items were secured at the police station as exhibits.
“The suspect was placed in police custody awaiting arraignment, while the recovered exhibits were secured at the same facility,” the police added.
The operation forms part of wider efforts by law enforcement agencies to tackle drug trafficking across different parts of the country.

Others linked to drug trafficking
In recent days, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested at least 13 people linked to drug trafficking during coordinated operations in Nairobi, Mombasa and the Nyanza region.
According to the DCI, multi-agency teams involving officers from the Anti-Narcotics Unit, the Kenya Police Service, the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) and the Kenya Revenue Authority conducted targeted raids after receiving intelligence reports.
“Multi-agency security teams arrest suspects in coordinated anti-drug operations across Mombasa, Nairobi and Nyanza regions,” the DCI said in a statement.
In one of the operations in Mombasa’s Likoni area, officers arrested three people at a rental house where they were distilling and packaging bottles labelled as vodka. Authorities also recovered equipment used in the process and other items during the raid.
Police have urged members of the public to continue sharing information that could help stop the spread of drugs in communities.
