Police arrest one after viral video of an assault on woman in Narok

Police in Mbene, Ngarite area of Narok Central Sub-county, are hunting for the assailants seen in a viral video beating a lady.

The four are said to be brothers; however, one of them has already been arrested pending arraignment in court.

In a statement released on Friday, September 26, 2025, police Director of Corporate Communication and Spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga termed the act barbaric and criminal and stated that it will not go unpunished.

“The National Police Service takes note of the brutal amateur footage circulating on social media depicting a woman being viciously assaulted,” the Statement read in part.

Muchiri Nyaga said the police and detectives took note of the disturbing footage circulating online of the victim being viciously assaulted.

According to the statement, the authorities responded swiftly to the incident, rescuing the woman and rushing her to the hospital for treatment.

NPS stated that the act amounts to gender-based violence, assault, and kidnapping are all punishable under Kenyan law, and vowed to pursue every suspect involved until they are brought to book.

“Following this incident, the police responded swiftly and rescued the survivor, who was rushed to the hospital for treatment,” the statement reads.

The police said that investigations were launched immediately, with a coordinated manhunt for the perpetrators.

Nyaga said officers remain in pursuit of the remaining persons of interest who are being tracked down to face justice for their roles in the attack.

The NPS further commended members of the public whose timely information helped identify and apprehend the first suspect, acknowledging the power of community cooperation in fighting crime.

“We will continue to be at the forefront of the fight against gender-based violence and ensure all offenders are held accountable,” the statement read.

The service reaffirmed that it has zero tolerance for gender-based violence and that it is committed to protecting the dignity, human rights, and fundamental freedoms of all Kenyans.

The police have promised the public that every effort will be made to hold the remaining offenders accountable and to further the message that such acts are unacceptable in society while investigations are ongoing.
