Detectives crack Eldoret violent gang robbery ring

Detectives in Eldoret have unearthed a robbery with violence gang that has been invading homes while posing as employees of Eldoret Water and Sanitation Company (Eldowas) after their attempt to rob a victim in one of the homes was foiled.
During the incident, police officers, manning a nearby residence of Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Eddy Nyale, moved in swiftly and shot one of the suspects, Luvira Muhati, in the hand as he attempted to escape.
Four other suspects escaped on foot.
Muhati was later arrested and taken to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital for treatment. He was arraigned on Friday before Chief Magistrate Dennis Mikoyan. The investigating officer applied for 10 days to detain the suspect pending investigation.
Through his sworn affidavit, Police Inspector Joyce Tunge told the court that the respondent was arrested on suspicion of having committed an offence of robbery with violence.
Inspector Tunge told the court that the matter was reported at Naiberi Police through OB No.22/16/04/2025. The court heard that the respondent, together with four other accomplices, went to the house of the complainant posing as employees of ELDOWAS who wanted to fix a solar panel.
