Duale to preside over Mazingira Day
Environment Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale will preside over Mazingira Day celebrations on Thursday, October 9, 2024.
The celebrations will be staged at the Nairobi Arboretum and commence at 8 am.
“To celebrate the day, Kenyans should participate in environmental conservation initiatives,” he said.
“The initiatives include clean-up activities to rid the environment of unwanted waste from homes, roads, parks, beaches and any other areas that require clean-up.”
CS Aden Duale stated that the day calls for urgent meaningful actions from both government and citizens to ensure prosperity and sustainability of the environment for present and future generations.
The CS will be accompanied by Forestry Principal Secretary Gitonga Mugambi, alongside other senior government officials.

Harambee Stars to depart for Cameroon
Harambee Stars players are expected to depart on Thursday, October 10, 2024, to Cameroon ahead of their two-legged 2025 AFCON qualifier.
The Engin Firat charges concluded their final residential training session on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, in preparation for the crucial double encounter with Cameroon.
The first leg will take place on Friday, October 11, 2024, at Japoma Stadium in Douala, Cameroon, followed by the return leg on Monday, October 14, 2024, at Mandela National Stadium in Uganda.
Coach Firat has been boosted by the availability of skipper Michael Olunga who missed the first two rounds of matches, while assistant captain Joseph Okumu is also back and trained well with the rest of the players after recovering from injury.
The Turkish tactician’s squad is also bolstered by the return of defender Johnstone Omurwa who missed the previous ties to finalise his transfer to Abha in the Saudi second tier.
Defender Daniel Anyembe, who missed the first two matches due to personal reasons is also back available and trained with the rest of the squad.
Reactions on Gachagua’s impeachment motion
After the National Assembly approved a special impeachment motion, more reactions are expected to continue trickling in on the fate of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
The DP is expected to face the Senate where each of the 11 grounds would be scrutinised and Gachagua given a chance to defend himself.
The verdict from the Senate will determine the fate of the embattled Deputy President Gachagua.
Meanwhile, Kenyans are also expected to continue proposing different individuals to assume the DP position if the process of impeachment sails through.
On Wednesday, October 9, 2024, COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli made it clear that he is not interested in the DP position.
