The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader, Oburu Oginga, joined President William Ruto and other leaders, including Cabinet Secretary for Health Adan Duale, for an Iftar dinner at State House, Mombasa, as Muslims across the country continue observing the holy month of Ramadan.

The gathering brought together leaders and members of the Muslim community to mark Iftar, the evening meal used to break the daily fast during Ramadan, in a moment of reflection, gratitude, and unity.

In a statement shared on his official X account on Friday, March 13, 2026, after the gathering, Ruto emphasised the importance of unity and mutual respect among Kenyans of different faiths and cultures.

“At State House Mombasa, we had the honour of joining our Muslim brethren to celebrate Iftar, a cherished moment of reflection, gratitude, and unity during the holy month of Ramadan,” Ruto’s statement reads.

He added that Kenya’s diversity remains one of its greatest strengths, noting that shared moments such as the Iftar dinner help reinforce peaceful coexistence and the pursuit of the common good.

The president also commended the Muslim community for its role in national development.

“I commend the Muslim community for their continued contribution to the social, economic, and cultural progress of our country,” he stated.

In addition, Ruto said that the Muslim community’s dedication to faith, family, and community remains an important pillar in building a more cohesive and prosperous Kenya.
