Obado rubbishes Raila’s call for mass action, supports ODM rebels
Former Migori Governor Okoth Obado has Rubbis]hed Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga’s calls for mass action.
The ex-governor also told off Raila for criticizing legislators from the region hosted by President William Ruto in State House.
On Friday during a rally in Migori, Odinga took a swipe at Uriri MP Mark Nyamita and his Rongo counterpart Paul Abuor calling them traitors for choosing to work with the government.
“On Friday during the rally Odinga and other leaders incited the crowd to start a demonstration and no one took their cue, we will not put people’s lives on the line for his selfish gain,” Obado said.
The former county chief said the Luo community is ready to work closely with President William Ruto. He claims several state appointments and development projects are reserved for the community.
Speaking to the press in Migori town on Saturday morning when he met Kenya Kwanza county ground mobilizers, Obado said residents of the county and Nyanza region at large will not heed Raila’s calls for mass action.
“We had political tourists in the county this Friday, the county and the region will not join demonstrations,” he said.
Obado said that as the Kenya Kwanza Nyanza coordinator, he is keen on ensuring many elected leaders from the region seek development from State House.
He said that in 2018 after pro-longed demonstrations over general elections, Odinga forced through a handshake with the Jubilee Party which rocked the economy and the administration.
“We support those elected leaders from Nyanza who have chosen to work with the government, let Raila stop intimidating them because many are willing and still approach us on the sidelines.
“We want to tell Odinga that this time he will find us seated in the State House yard when he comes for a handshake, he will just drink tea from the yard as we ensure he leaves us alone,” he said.
