Trans-Nzoia County Governor George Natembeya has intensified his supremacy battle against the Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang’ula.

In a video posted on his X on Saturday, July 20, 2024, the governor the governor blamed the former Sirisia Member of Parliament for the failure of the Finance Bill 2024 to see the light of day.

The former Rift Valley Regional Commissioner said Wetang’ula failed to advise President William Ruto accordingly on the controversial bill that was later withdrawn in its entirety.

Kiongozi ambaye anajua vile wananchi wanakaa hawezi kubali ushuru iongezwe unless wanakaa kwa dunia yao uko,” Natembeya said.

After the widespread demonstrations against the Kenya Kwanza government, Natembeya believes leaders have learned lessons and are going to be more accountable to the people. He urged Wananchi to intensify their agitation for good governance and accountability.

Ona saa hii, kurudi nyumbani mamabo imekuwa ngumu. Na nyinyi mnafanya mambo mazuri sana ndio waendelee kuwajibika. Next time, kiongozi atakuja kuuliza wananchi mnataka nini wakati wa public participation. Iko kwa katiba lakini hawafanyi.

Sasa vile mumewafanya hivyo, najua watauliza, sindio? Sasa atakuwa anaenda kwa president lakini anasema rais nakupenda na nakuheshimu lakini watu wangu wamesema ‘tawe’,” he said.

The governor led a chorus to oppose Wetang’ula, his party, Ford Kenya, as well as more taxes the government had intended to collect through the Finance Bill.

Wakati wa kukuja kutishwa na viongozi imeisha

Wetang’ula, tawe, Wetang’ula, tawe, Ford Kenya, tawe, Ford Kenya, tawe, umaskini, tawe, ushuru, tawe. Hio tawe tutaimba mpaka tuweke viongozi ambao wanatufaa,” Natembeya said amid cheers from the members of the public who had attended the function.
