An incident of fuel siphoning from county road construction machines in Ololmasani Ward, Narok County, has triggered public outrage and renewed calls for accountability within the county government.

Narok Deputy Governor Kiprono Koech Tamalinye on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, confirmed the incident, saying he personally visited Kimananga to assess the situation after videos and photos of the siphoning circulated widely on social media.

“I arrived at Kimananga, Ololmasani Ward, to personally assess the incident involving the siphoning of fuel from road construction vehicles deployed in the area, which has been circulating on social media since last night and this morning,” Tamalinye stated.

The deputy governor condemned the act, terming it a serious breach of public trust. “I strongly condemn this act of theft and misconduct, which undermines public trust and ongoing development efforts. Such behaviour has no place in our society,” he said.

Tamalinye also commended residents who helped expose the illegal activity, noting that community vigilance plays a crucial role in promoting transparency.

“I also wish to commend members of the public for their vigilance and commitment to protecting public resources. Your alertness plays a key role in ensuring accountability and integrity in all our projects,” he added.

The statement followed an earlier revelation by Ololmasani Ward MCA, Kipkoech Arap Tembur, who shared details of the incident on his social media pages on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.

According to Tembur, several people were caught siphoning fuel from county machines that had been idle for months under the pretext of lacking fuel.

“Last night, officials were caught red-handed siphoning fuel from county machines in Ololmasani Ward. These are the same machines that have been lying idle for months at Kapcheselet under the excuse of no fuel,” Kiplangat Tembur wrote

Tembur added that four 20-litre Jericans of stolen fuel were recovered after alert youths intercepted the culprits at around 11 p.m. He described the incident as “This is the corruption killing development in our ward!” he stated

He further vowed to escalate the matter to the relevant authorities. “We are taking this matter to the relevant authorities; enough of enriching a few at the expense of many. Ololmasani will rise, and truth will prevail,” he wrote

The county government has yet to issue a formal statement against those implicated in the incident.
