Nakuru CECs sworn in after court battles
Ten Nakuru County Executive Members (CECM) were yesterday sworn in after months of court battles and controversy over their nomination to the Cabinet.
The 10 took the oath of office hours after being vetted and unanimously approved by the County Assembly Members (MCAs) amid concerns of a fresh suit being lodged at the Employment and Labour Relations Court to seek orders to stop the ceremony.
Governor Susan Kihika, while calling on the CECs to accelerate the implementation of her development agenda, said the moment was “relief on the burden I have been carrying for over three months.”
Kihika said the Assembly had discharged its duty expeditiously as required, saying the approval was a sign of an arm of government willing to support a progressive county.
“We are now ready to work. I believe Nakuru is in good hands with this set of executives. This county is not a walk in the park and you are expected to work hard even as you settle in your offices,” Kihika said.
She expressed confidence in the new team, it had been tested and found capable to deliver on the electorates following the vetting by committee members.
Kihika implored the new executives to go an extra mile in the execution of their work and constantly engage citizens and leaders to improve service delivery.
“You must be at the service of the people and you must strive to deliver better service,” Kihika noted.
