A year after President William Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto hosted popular televangelist Benny Hinn, the man of the cloth has now headed to Uganda.

In a statement on Saturday, June 28, 2025, Uganda’s President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni confirmed Benny Hinn’s visit to the neighbouring nation.

The priest was hosted by Museveni and Uganda’s First Lady at their Nakasero State Lodge, where they revealed that he was set to host a three-day crusade.

According to Uganda’s long-serving president, their meeting was centred on faith and religion, which was later followed by a prayer for the country.

“Pastor Benny Hinn, the American evangelist currently in Uganda for a three-day crusade, visited me and Maama Janet at the Nakasero State Lodge this evening. We engaged in meaningful discussions on faith and religion, followed by a heartfelt prayer for our nation,” Museveni’s statement read in part.

“As a country where 85 per cent of the population identifies as Christian, we welcome him. I therefore wish him a blessed and pleasant stay.”

Kenya’s visit

First Lady Rachel Ruto was among thousands of people who attended the Healing the Nation Crusade by popular televangelist Benny Hinn at the Nyayo Stadium on Saturday, February 24, 2024.

Later on Sunday, February 25, 2024, President Ruto joined the crusade. During the crusade, Mama Rachel sought to clear the air on the funding of the mega crusade after reports indicated that the state had splashed millions on the religious event.

The First Lady was categorical that the churches in Kenya had not funded the crusade.

She stated, “The church has fully funded all that was needed to make the crusade a success.”

During his time at the crusade, Ruto revealed the time he knew he would be Kenya’s president and led the congregation in a hymn.

“The first time I got a revelation that I was going to be president in Kenya was in 2006 and during the Asuza 100 Celebration of Revival in the US, and I was there with my wife and many others,” he said.

Charlene Ruto also asked the American priest to pray for her to get a husband.
