Mudavadi amplifies Kenya-Saudi Arabia efforts to deepen trade, labour ties
Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Musalia Mudavadi has said Kenya’s diplomatic missions are playing a crucial role in advancing the country’s national interests and creating opportunities for citizens abroad.
In a statement in his X account on Saturday, July 4, 2026, Mudavadi said he met officials at the Kenyan Embassy in Saudi Arabia to review preparations for Kenya’s inaugural political consultations with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

“Kenya’s diplomatic missions are at the forefront of advancing our national interests and creating opportunities for our citizens across the world,” Mudavadi said.
Expanding Kenya-Saudi cooperation
According to Mudavadi, the consultations are expected to strengthen relations between Nairobi and Riyadh by expanding cooperation in trade, investment, labour mobility, technology, and peace and security.
The Prime CS said improving opportunities for skilled Kenyan workers and protecting the welfare of Kenyans living and working in Saudi Arabia remain key priorities.

“The consultations are expected to strengthen Kenya–Saudi Arabia relations by expanding cooperation in trade, investment, labour mobility, technology, and peace and security,” Mudavadi stated.
“A key priority remains improving opportunities for skilled Kenyan workers while enhancing the welfare and protection of Kenyans living and working in the Kingdom, which is Kenya’s second-largest source of diaspora remittances after the United States.”
Diplomatic engagement
The Prime Cabinet Secretary emphasised that strong diplomatic engagement is essential in opening new markets, attracting investment, creating jobs and safeguarding the interests of Kenyans abroad.
He added that the ongoing efforts are aimed at ensuring Kenya’s foreign policy delivers tangible economic and social benefits to citizens both at home and across the diaspora.
