Nyandarua County Senator John Methu has joined the growing list of leaders who have sent their condolences following the tragic death of Nyandarua nominated Member of County Assembly (MCA) Beth Wahito.

The MCA lost her life in a road accident along the Nakuru–Nairobi Highway.

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Hon. Beth Wahito, who until her demise following a tragic road accident along the Nairobi–Nakuru highway was a specially elected member of the Nyandarua County Assembly,” Methu stated.

In a statement shared on his social media pages on Sunday, June 25, 2025, Senator Methu expressed his sorrow over the loss, describing the late MCA as not only a trailblazer but also a fearless defender of justice.

Having been close to her, Methu stated that she played a significant role in his political journey and even mentored him during his election as Nyandarua Senator.

“I knew Hon. Wahito personally. She was not only a trailblazer in leadership and a fearless advocate for justice but also a mentor who played an immense role in my own political journey, including my election as senator for Nyandarua County,” he added.

He went on to describe Beth as a seasoned politician who had served as a councillor under the defunct Nyandarua County Council in the old constitutional order and was later elected for three terms as an MCA in the Nyandarua County Assembly.

“Beth served as a councillor in the defunct Nyandarua County Council and later as an MCA in the first and third Nyandarua County Assemblies. She championed justice, gender equality, and good governance through her roles in various capacities, most recently as Kinangop Constituency UDA Coordinator and Chair of the Women’s Caucus in Nyandarua,” he said.
