Former Samburu Senator Sammy Prisa Leshore on Tuesday replaced former Jubilee Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura as the nominee for persons living with disability at the Senate.

In a gazette notice issued by IEBC Chairperson Wafula Chebukati, Mwaura’s name has been deleted and replaced with Leshore’s.

His nomination came shortly after the Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka declared Mwaura’s seat vacant.

Who is this man Leshore?

Leshore is the first Senator for Samburu County who served between 2013 and 2017. He was elected on the now moribund URP party ticket.

In 2017, he was an aspirant for the same senatorial seat but lost in the KANU primaries to Senator Samuel Poghiso, who eventually won the seat.

Leshore had served as a Member of the National Assembly for Samburu East for 15 years between 1993 and 2007. He was a KANU party member during his tenure as MP.

In 2007, he unsuccessfully defended his seat after he lost to Raphael Letimalo who won on the ODM party ticket.

Prior to that, he had served at the Directorate of State Security Intelligence.

He was initially a police officer at the Kenya Police Force, now renamed the National Police Service.
