Man jailed in 2019 for poaching arrested again with 200kg of game meat
Officers from the Kenya Wildlife Service(KWS) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested a poaching ex-convict with 200kg of illegal game meat in Kajiado County.
According to a report by the Kenya News Agency, Morris Musyoka was arrested on Thursday with the game meat loaded on a motorcycle on Isara-Sultan Hamud road.
In 2019, Musyoka had been arrested, convicted of trafficking game meat and trophies by a Loitokitok court, and sentenced to one year in prison.
However, Musyoka never completed his term for he was released in a prison de-congestion exercise following the COVID-19 pandemic. Musyoka has since been on the detectives’ radar. He is set to be arraigned on Monday.

Kajiado County has been a hotbed of illegal hunting and trafficking of game trophies and meat, the report notes.
Three vehicles and 15 motorcycles were intercepted in 2020 ferrying bush meat. Butcheries and meat eateries within the precincts of Kajiado are believed to provide ready market for the illegal meat. Poachers mainly target zebras, dik diks, giraffes and antelopes.
In November 2020, a suspect was nabbed transporting elephant tusks worth about Sh10 million to Kajiado town.
