Malawi COVID-19 cases rise to 41
By People Daily, May 6, 2020The cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Malawi has now reached 41 with 3 deaths, 9 recoveries and 29 active cases, Health Minister, Jappie Mhango, announced Monday.
The minister said the latest two cases were confirmed in the country’s commercial city of Blantyre.
Mhango identified the two as Tanzania nationals who travelled to Malawi on a business trip.
“Fifteen of these cases are imported and 26 are local transmission,” said the update compiled by the Public Health Institute of Malawi.
Meanwhile, public and private learning institutions and offices have closed while essential services, except health facilities, have downsized staff to decongest their offices. (Xinhua)
