The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has reopened the Mai Mahiu–Suswa–Narok (B7) road after a temporary closure due to flooding.

In a public notice on the X account on Friday, March 13, 2026, KeNHA said the road has been reopened to traffic after authorities addressed flooding and silt deposits that had affected the section near Kedong Ranch.

The road had been closed since March 7, 2026, after heavy flooding and the massive deposition of silt at Kedong Ranch near Suswa made the route impassable.

“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) is pleased to inform the public that the Mai Mahiu-Suswa-Narok (B7) Road is now open to traffic. This follows the closure of the road section on 7th March, 2026, due to flooding and deposition of silt at Kedong Ranch near Suswa,” KeNHA Director General Eng. Luka Kimeli confirmed.

KeNHA had recommended that Kenyans consider an alternative route via Ngong–Suswa Road. The authority confirmed that the silt has been cleared and the road is now safe for use.

Caution to motorists

However, the Authority has issued an advisory to Kenyans, warning motorists to exercise caution as heavy rains continue in the region.

Drivers are advised to be careful when navigating the sections between the Naivasha ICD (Km 14) and Suswa Ranch (Km 39), where weather conditions may still impact road safety.

“The Authority, however, appeals to motorists to exercise caution when driving through the sections of this road as the rains continue, particularly between Naivasha ICD (Km 14) and Suswa Ranch (Km 39),” Kimeli stated.

The statement further stated that the authority remains committed to ensuring seamless connectivity to facilitate safe passage of goods and services for economic prosperity.

“At KeNHA, your safety is our utmost priority,” Kimeli stated.
