Police in Machakos have traced a 40-year-old Alice Wangui Gathumbi who was reported as missing by her family a week ago.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Saturday said Wangui was found at a prayer center in Katoloni Machakos County.

Wangui who works at the Ministry of Health in Nairobi is said to have disappeared from her home in Syokimau, Machakos on October 29.

The DCI said the mother of two checked at the prayer center the same day her family reported about her disappearance.

Wangui’s husband Job Mugo told Citizen Tv on Friday that his wife left home for work on 29th, but she did not return in the evening. Efforts to reach her were futile as her phone was off.

“The last seven days have been hell to us. We checked for her at all the hospitals in Nairobi, and even at City Mortuary but we didn’t find her,” said Mugo.

The family reported about her disappearance at Mlolongo Police Station in Machakos, and set out to search for her in Nairobi where she works.

Wangui works as an administrator at the Ministry of Health headquarters in Afya House, Nairobi CBD.
