The Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA) has announced changes at the top of its board, marking a significant leadership transition for the agency that represents thousands of small-scale tea farmers across the country.

The announcement was made on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, in Nairobi. The leadership change comes amid intensified talks about governance decisions that directly affect tea prices, factory management and Kenya’s competitiveness in global markets. KTDA plays a central role in managing tea processing factories and marketing Kenyan tea internationally, making board changes critical to stakeholders.

In its official statement, the agency formally announced the election of new board leaders and the transition from the outgoing officials.

“The Kenya Tea Development Agency Holdings Limited Board has elected Enos Njeru as the Chairman and Samson Mosonik Menjo as the Vice Chairman of the Board. They take over from Chege Kirundi and Omweno James Ombasa, who served as the chair and vice chairman, respectively,” the statement reads.

The agency also acknowledged the contribution of the outgoing board officials, recognising their role as both Chair and vice Chairpersons during their time in office.

“The Board congratulates the newly elected Chairman and Vice Chairman, and also expresses its sincere appreciation to the outgoing leaders for their dedicated service to the Agency,” the statement reads.

KTDA further reassured farmers and stakeholders that despite the leadership transition, its core mission and governance standards remain unchanged.

“KTDA Holdings remains committed to upholding the highest standards of corporate governance, protecting farmers’ value, and positioning Kenya’s tea competitively in regional and international markets,” the statement reads.

The appointment of Enos Njeru as Chairman and Samson Mosonik Menjo as Vice Chairman now places them at the helm of one of Kenya’s most influential agricultural institutions. KTDA has said its leadership will shape policy direction, farmer returns, and the agency’s relationship with both local factories and international buyers.
