Juja Member of Parliament (MP) George Koimburi now says his life is in danger.

Koimburi says that since he voted no on the Finance Bill 2024/2025, proponents of the revenue collection law have been threatening him on a daily basis.

He insisted that he voted against the bill because it contained corrupt dealings and clauses that would have further oppressed the already financially crippled Kenyans.

Speaking at Nyacaba Secondary School after commissioning newly renovated classrooms and lavatories, Koimburi said he would record a statement with police detailing the individuals who have been trailing and insulting him.

“Since I voted no to the finance bill, I began receiving threats from leaders, especially those we’ve been elected together in Kiambu. I shall not be intimidated. I will continue to speak the truth and unearth corrupt dealings in government. Do your worst, but I will continue to represent my people of Juja,” he said.

Koimburi demands sacking of Ichung’wah

At the same time, the MP called for the sacking of National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wa and Majority Whip Silvanus Osoro for hoodwinking him and failing to provide the required leadership in the August House.

“You fired your ministers in your fight against corruption and to better the leadership of your government. In the same direction, do the same to PSs to form the government that Kenyans desire. Please also conduct an overhaul in parliament by dethroning Ichung’wah and Osoro,” he said.

Nonetheless, Koimburi lauded President William Ruto for dismissing his Cabinet Secretaries, whom he said were a thorn in the Kenya Kwanza government and urged him to replace them with competent professionals with untainted history.

The MP, alongside his Githunguri counterpart Gathoni Wamuchomba, are the only legislators from Kiambu who defied the UDA party position and shot down the contentious bill that has since been rejected by Ruto following protests that resulted in deaths and destruction of property.
