Kisumu senator Tom Ojienda has issued response after the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party expelled him from the party for defying the party position and gross misconduct.

Ojenda was expelled alongside four others; Lang’ata’s MP Felix Odiwuor (Jalang’o), Gem’s Elisha Odhiambo, Bondo’s MP Gideon Ochanda, and their Suba South counterpart Caroli Omondi after a disciplinary committee held by the party’s National Executive Committee on Wednesday, September 6, 2023.

“Members facing allegations of violation of Article 11(1)(e) of the party constitution and Section 14A of the Political Parties Act 2011 by openly associating with and supporting activities of a rival political party and opposing lawful decisions/resolutions made by the party organs shall be deemed to have resigned from the party.

“The party is hereby directed to commence the process of removing them from the register of the party,” ODM said in a statement.

In a subsequent rejoinder, Ojienda made it clear that he was not apologising for defying the party.

In fact, he maintained that he would continue working with President William Ruto.

My party has today expelled me for working with HE President William Ruto. I have no apology and will continue to work with the President,” the senator wrote on his official X account, formerly Twitter.
