Senator of Kakamega Bony Khalwale has warned the Speaker of the National Assembly, Moses Wetang’ula, of a lack of neutrality by acting as an agent of the United Democratic Alliance.

While speaking during a Senate proceeding on Tuesday, 5 July 2025, Khalwale, a medical doctor known for his bold censure motions in parliament, challenged the Speaker of the National Assembly to stop taking sides.

“Instead of observing Article 1, the speaker of the National Assembly is participating in the so-called empowerment functions, where they dish out money. Wetang’ula is behaving like an agent of the United Democratic Alliance. Tomorrow I will come with evidence,” he said.

Khalwale’s statement that “Kesho nitakuja na evidence!” suggests plans to reveal something significant on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

This statement is directed towards Wetang’ula, whom Khalwale alleges is acting as President Ruto’s errand boy, compromising his office’s integrity. This feud ties into broader political tensions in Western Kenya, where Khalwale is positioning himself for the 2027 Kakamega governorship via his United Patriotic Movement (UPM).

The threat to expose Wetang’ula hints at undisclosed information that Khalwale believes will damage Wetang’ula’s reputation or influence. Given Khalwale’s history as a former chairman of the Parliamentary Accounts Committee, he’s known for leveraging evidence in censure motions.

This comes as Khalwale also accused Wetang’ula of supporting incumbent Governor Fernandes Barasa’s re-election, a move Khalwale sees as external interference.

With less than 24 hours from his promised disclosure, the evidence could include documents, recordings, or witness accounts—potentially linked to the County Ward Development Fund discussions.
