The Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) has announced the successful reestablishment of the Mogor bridge in Narok County after it was swept away by floods.

In a statement on the authority’s official X account on Thursday, February 26, 2026, KeRRA announced that the repair provides seamless connectivity for motorists.

“The Mogor Bridge along the Kilgoris-Lolgorian Road, which was damaged by the recent heavy rains, has been successfully reinstated,” KeRRA said.

KeRRA has urged motorists to drive carefully, further adding that it will provide emergency information via its official social media channels.

“This critical infrastructure repair restores seamless connectivity for motorists and communities in the region. KeRRA will continue to provide emergency information via our official social media channels. Please drive carefully,” KeRRA added.

The collapse

The statement comes two days after the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) issued a warning to Narok residents after a heavy downpour swept away the Mogor Bridge on the Kilgoris-Lolgorian (B3) Road following severe overnight rains that caused extensive damage to the structure.

In a post on the Authority’s official X account on Tuesday, February 2026, the KeRRA officials, led by Chairman Anthony Mwaura, visited the section of the bridge swept away.

“Today, the KeRRA team, led by Chairman Mr. Anthony Mwaura and Director General Eng. Jackson Magondu visited a section of a bridge swept away by heavy floods along the Kilgoris–Lolgorian Road in Narok County,” KeRRA said.

At the time, KeRRA had called on residents and motorists to exercise caution and avoid flooded areas, as heavy rains were expected to continue.

KeNHA shuts down Mogor Bridge

Meanwhile, the KeRRA report came just a day after the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) announced the shutdown of the Mogor Bridge on the Kilgoris-Lolgorian (B3).

In a notice on February 23, 2026, KeNHA confirmed that flash floods washed away the bridge approaches at approximately Km 21 in Trans Mara, Narok County, rendering the road impassable and cutting direct access between Trans Mara West and Trans Mara South.

“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to notify the public that the heavy flash floods triggered by overnight intense rainfall have severely damaged the Mogor Bridge along the Kilgoris-Lolgorian (B3) Road at approximately Km 21 in Trans Mara, Narok County,” read part of the Authority’s statement.
