2 people reported missing as heavy flood sweeps a vehicle in Narok County

Narok Governor Patrick Ole Ntutu has confirmed that two people have been missing after a car they were driving in was swept away by heavy floods witnessed in the region.

Taking to his official X account, the Narok governor announced that the two went missing as of Sunday, February 22, 2026, after a vehicle they were in was swept away by the Mara River floods.

“I am currently at Mara Rianta to lead the search and recovery efforts for the two young men whose vehicle was swept away by the Mara River floods this past Sunday night,” Ole Tutu said.

KeRRA cautions residents

On the other hand, the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) has issued a warning to Narok residents after a heavy downpour swept away the Mogor Bridge on the Kilgoris-Lolgorian (B3) Road following severe overnight rains that caused extensive damage to the structure.

In a post on the Authority’s official X account on Tuesday, February 2026, the KeRRA officials, led by Chairman Anthony Mwaura, visited the section of the bridge swept away.

“Today, the KeRRA team, led by Chairman Mr. Anthony Mwaura and Director General Eng. Jackson Magondu visited a section of a bridge swept away by heavy floods along the Kilgoris–Lolgorian Road in Narok County,” KeRRA said.

KeRRA has called on residents and motorists to exercise caution and avoid flooded areas, as heavy rains are expected to continue.

At the time, In addition, the team has further assured Narok residents that engineers are on standby in case any further emergency works are needed.

The KeRRA team were accompanied by former Narok Governor Hon. Samuel Tunai and KeRRA Narok Regional Director Eng. David Kerembu; the team assured residents that emergency works were already underway to make the bridge passable as soon as possible.
