The Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) has issued a public warning regarding a surge in recruitment scams targeting unsuspecting job seekers.

In a public notice released on Thursday, March 27, 2026, the Authority flagged the existence of fake letters currently in circulation.

According to the authority, these documents falsely claim that recipients have been shortlisted for interviews and, in a common tactic used by fraudsters, demand an advance payment to “facilitate” the process.

“The Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) wishes to notify the public about fake letters that falsely claim applicants have been shortlisted for interviews and require payment in advance,” the statement read.

No Payment Required

KeRRA Director General, Eng. J.K. Magondu clarified that the Authority does not charge any fees at any point during its hiring process.

He added that all official communication is only made through its verified channels, including its website, social media platforms, telephone, and official email.

“KeRRA does NOT require any payment at any stage of the recruitment process, including interview invitations,” the statement read.

The authority further called on members of the public to report any suspicious activities linked to the scam.

“We urge the public to report any letters, messages, or individuals who request payment in connection with the job opportunities at KeRRA. The Authority has reported the matter to the relevant authorities for investigation,” the statement added.

KeNHA fake recruitment drives

This comes just a week after the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) flagged a fraudulent email that claimed the corporation is hiring.

In a statement on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, the authority urged the public to ignore such fraudulent emails falsely claiming to be associated with the KeNHA recruitment processes.

While flagging the fraudulent email, KeNHA further listed the said email behind the fraudulent activity, claiming that an amptitude test has been postponed.

“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to inform the public of a rise in fraudulent messages and emails falsely claiming to be associated with the KeNHA recruitment processes,” KeNHA stated.
