Kenya on Saturday recorded 2,127 new cases of Covid-19 from 6, 710 samples tested in the past 24 hours, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi has announced.

This translates to a positivity rate of 31.7 per cent.

The total caseload in the country now stands at 297,155, while cumulative tests stand at 3,036,982.

Kagwe said three more patients succumbed to the disease, taking total number of fatalities to 5, 381.

Some 39 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

“Another 234 patients are on supplemental oxygen and 209 of them are in the general wards. 25 patients are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU),” Kagwe said.

Some 1,434 patients recovered from the disease, taking total number of hospital discharges to 253,715.

As of December 31 2021, a total of 10,100,993 vaccines had been administered across the country.

Of these, 5,862,875 were partially vaccinated while those fully vaccinated were 4,206,106.
