Kenya Power: Blackout to hit parts of Nairobi, Kirinyaga on Tuesday, November 11

Kenya Power has announced a series of planned power outages across parts of the Nairobi region and Mt. Kenya on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.

According to a notice dated Monday, November 10, 2025, the scheduled blackout will affect parts of Lang’ata in Nairobi and Kirinyaga County.

The affected areas in Kirinyaga County are parts of Gitwe Primary School, Gitwe Kiarura, Kona Mbaya, and adjacent customers.

NHC Lang’ata

In Lang’ata, the blackout will be experienced in parts of the housing projects and commercial centers developed by the National Housing Corporation (NHC) in the area: Southlands Estate, Langata Hosp, Akiba Estate, Langata, Civil Servants Langata, Rubia Estate, Uhuru Gardens and adjacent customers.

Kenya Power has confirmed that the outages will start from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm in all the affected regions.

The company, while sharing the updates, urged residents and businesses to prepare for the interruptions.

“Please be informed that the following areas are scheduled for planned power maintenance on Tuesday, 11th November 2025,” part of the statement read.

Area: Parts of Lang’ata: NHC Langata, Southlands Est, Langata Hosp, Akiba Est, Langata, Civil Servants Langata, Rubia Est, Uhuru Gardens & adjacent customers.

Mt. Kenya region: Parts of Kirinyaga County.

“Areas of Gitwe Primary School, Gitwe Primary School, Gitwe Kiarura, Kona Mbaya & adjacent customers,” the statement concluded.

The updates come a day after the utility company announced power outages across parts of Uasin Gishu, Kisumu, Kiambu, and Kitui counties on Sunday, November 9, 2025.

Kenya Power confirmed that power will be switched off in the Racecourse and Jumbo Hotel areas, including Upper E/View and adjacent customers in the North Rift region.

The blackout also affected other locations such as Eldocraft, Kidiwa Estate, Mwanzo Estate, Majengo Catholic Church, Our Lady of Assumption School, and neighbouring customers.

In the Western region, parts of Kisumu County were listed among those to be affected, particularly Bungu‑Meri Village. The outage was to run from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, impacting Ojong Secondary School, Baba Onditi, Bungu Meri Secondary School, and the surrounding areas.
