Kenya Power announces blackouts across multiple counties on December 1
Kenya Power has issued a fresh notice announcing day-long power interruptions scheduled for Monday, December 1, 2025, across several counties.
The planned maintenance will affect homes, businesses, schools, and institutions in at least six regions, with most outages expected to run from morning to late afternoon.
In its public alert issued on Sunday, November 30, 2025, the utility said the outages are necessary to facilitate routine network upgrades and repairs meant to improve electricity reliability.
The announcement means adjusting plans, from milling businesses that depend on power for production and households that rely on electricity for daily needs, among others.
North Rift
The statement lists affected regions beginning with the North Rift, where parts of West Pokot County will experience an outage from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm.
“Sigor, IPET, Tamkal, Chesta, Chesta Teachers College, Lomut Mkt & adjacent customers,” the notice reads.

Still in the North Rift, parts of Nandi County, particularly Kamobo and Kapsasur, will be without electricity between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm. Nandi Hills Town and surrounding areas, including Nandi Tea, Kipkimba and Bethesda Hospital, will be off from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
In South Nyanza, residents in Nyamira County are also expected to go through an outage lasting most of the day.
“Mosebtei Market, Gesima Market, Mochenwa Mkt, Matunwa Tea Factory, Esani Market, Matutu, Enchoro Royal Media Transmitter, Nyakoria Market & adjacent customers,” the notice reads.
These areas will be off from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Mt Kenya region
In the Mt. Kenya region, parts of Nyeri County will be affected from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Areas listed include Sasini, Njeng’u, Baraka Estate, KWS Mweiga, Tree Tops, Kihuyo and nearby homes and businesses.

The notice further lists Karaini and Old Kangaita in Kirinyaga County, which will also be off from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., touching villages, markets, tea farms and local institutions.
Residents in Kiambu County along parts of Kenyatta Road will also be impacted.
“Mama Ngina Univ, Ichaweri Village, Theta T/Fact, Wangui Mkt, Kahata Village, Gatitu Mission, Gathiru Mkt, Kiganjo Mkt, Gatina Village & adjacent customers,” the notice reads.
At the Coast, parts of Taita Taveta County, especially Mngama Primary and neighbouring homes, will also be off throughout the day.
