Kenya’s ministry of health on Tuesday confirmed 45 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of infections to 535.

Mutai Kagwe, cabinet secretary for health, said the latest cases are from 1,077 samples tested in the 24 hours which is the highest recorded since the first COVID-19 pandemic was reported in the country on March 13.

“The figures are indication that things are not getting better. Unless we change, we will continue to see increasing number of people testing positive,” Kagwe told journalists during his daily briefing in Nairobi.

He said nine people were discharged from hospitals during the period, bringing the total number of recoveries to 182. (Xinhua)
