Chief Justice Martha Koome yesterday said she is working closely with her counterparts in Azerbaijan to improve Kenya’s capacity in dealing with cases related to energy, mining and agriculture.

Koome who spoke after hosting Chief Justice of Azerbaijan, Justice Inam Karimov, and his esteemed delegation said that Kenya is willing to partner with other countries to improve on the current judicial system.

“By partnering with our Azerbaijani counterparts, we open doors for innovation, reform, and capacity building, benefiting not just our institutions but, most importantly, the people we serve,” she said.

She added: “The Judiciary of Kenya remains dedicated to fostering these international partnerships, which not only strengthen our institutions but also enhance the legal profession for the benefit of the people we serve.”

Koome urged lawyers to work closely with judges saying such cooperation will work towards addressing the existing problems.

“Our ability to adapt, evolve, and respond to emerging challenges are strengthened when we work together. It is through such partnerships that we uphold the highest standards of justice, integrity, and accountability,” she said.

Karimov lauded Kenya’s efforts in making the Judiciary fully digital.

“Kenya is respected globally for what it has achieved in the judicial system. We are here to learn how we can also develop an e-justice system. We also want to learn how to make our commercial law and international arbitration system better done.” he said.
