The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced temporary traffic disruptions at the Tana River Bridge along the Ukasi–Garissa–Modika (A3) Road to facilitate ongoing construction works for the new bridge.
In a public notice dated Tuesday, December 13, 2025, KeNHA informed motorists that a section of the A3 Road at the Tana River Bridge and its approach roads will experience interruptions during two periods: from Friday, December 19, to Monday, December 22, 2025, and from Monday, December 29, 2025, to Thursday, January 15, 2026.
Temporal disruptions
”KeNHA wishes to notify the public that a section of the temporary traffic disruption at the Tana River Bridge and its approach roads along Ukasi – Garissa – Modika (A3) Road,” KeNHA said briefly.
According to the authority, the works will be carried out during off-peak hours between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm to minimise inconvenience to road users. KeNHA has assured the public that traffic management measures will be put in place during the construction period. Motorists have been advised to observe all traffic signs, follow the designated traffic arrangements, and comply with instructions issued by police officers and traffic marshals deployed on site.
The authority expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by the disruptions and appealed for patience and cooperation from road users as the works progress. Once completed, the New Tana River Bridge is expected to significantly enhance movement along the Ukasi–Garissa–Modika route, which serves as a vital link for transport and trade in the region.
Festive season caution
KeNHA has also urged road users to exercise caution during this festive season. ”As the festive season approaches, members of the public are urged to exercise increased responsibility and self-control. The combination of celebrations, events, travel, and social gatherings greatly raises the risk of road accidents and other preventable incidents.” The statement said on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.
