‘Fight ideologically, not with fists’ – Karua advises Nairobi legislators

Azimio la Umoja Co-Principal and Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua has urged Nairobi Members of County (MCA’s ) to work together in unity to ensure the county does not have another NMS.

Karua who paid a courtesy call visit to Assembly Speaker Kennedy Ngondi together with other leaders said it was the work of the MCA’s to ensure they oversight well for delivery.

“Do not neglect your oversight role that we see NMS season 2 coming into place,” she paused.

She urged them to work peacefully without any fights and instead fight with ideas that will take Nairobi to the next level as it is the mirror of the world.

“Working well does not mean fighting physically. Fight ideologically and not with fists. The solution for every situation is by sitting down and discussing,” Karua stated.

The NARC-Kenya leader urged the speaker to work with both the minority and Majority since he is a speaker for all.

She proposed a motion to the MCA to ensure Nairobians are not exploited through the parking fees charged by supermarkets and hospitals.

“As an Assembly ensure you come up with a motion to prevent Nairobians from being exploited by supermarkets and hospitals through parking fees. It should ensure that there is a rise in the amount they are charged or if a person pays once they do not need to pay every time they get back for services,” she said.

On his part, Ngondi stated that they will always consult with them for advice and support.

“In case of anything, we will always reach out for support and we will work to ensure delivery in the county,” Ngondi stated

Makongeni MCA and Nairobi County Assembly Majority leader stated that he would soon officially invite Karua for an address to the assembly and a piece of advice.

He called on the majority leaders from the Kenya Kwanza coalition to also bring out ideas that will propel Nairobi in the right direction.

“I will soon make communication through the speaker and invite you to the assembly for an address. We invite our counterparts from the UDA side to bring up good ideas. We promise to be steadfast in terms of constitution safeguard,” Imwatok stated.
