Homa Bay Town Member of Parliament Peter Kaluma has categorically ruled out any possibility of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) allying with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, reaffirming the party’s commitment to President William Ruto beyond 2027.

In a statement issued on his official X account on Wednesday, December 25, 2025, Kaluma dismissed suggestions of ODM joining forces with opposition leaders, declaring that the party will never associate with Gachagua or anyone linked to him.

“We in @TheODMparty will NEVER associate with Gachagua or anyone associating with him, including yourself. We are with President @WilliamsRuto who is our first love (2007), beyond 2027 as Baba ordained. Merry Xmas Kalonzo,” Kaluma stated.

Kalonzo’s appeal

The MP’s statement came in direct response to Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka, who had earlier appealed to what he termed the “progressive arm” of ODM to join a united opposition.

In his message, Kalonzo urged ODM leaders, including Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, Senator Godfrey Osotsi, Winnie Odinga, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, and party leader Dr Oburu Oginga, to remember their “first love” and unite in opposition.

“I’m asking our brothers in ODM, the progressive arm of ODM, led by people like Sifuna Osotsi, our little girl Winnie, Babu Owino, Mama Ida herself, the leader, Dr Oburu, please remember your first love. Remember that. Just do some introspection every night you go to bed and join us in this united opposition to complete the task in memory of Raila Amolo Odinga,” Kalonzo had said.
