Homa Bay Town constituency Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Kaluma believes Kenya’s candidate in the upcoming February 2025 African Union Commission (AUC) Chairmanship race Raila Odinga is the most suitable person to succeed the outgoing Chairperson Moussa Faki.

While hailing the former Prime Minister in a statement shared via his official X account on Sunday, December 15, 2024, Kaluma said Raila has the clout needed to pull African leaders to action.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) lawmaker further stated that the 2022 Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition flagbearer has acute grasp of Africa and African affairs, true love for the African people and strong will to serve, which makes him the most suitable candidate.

Kaluma on AUC debate

He went ahead to laud Raila for what he termed as a stellar performance at the African Union Leadership debate dubbed Mjadala Afrika that was held on Friday, December 13, at the AU headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Kaluma in a subsequent statement said that Raila is charismatic, deeply knowledgeable, experienced, visionary, passionate and optimistic about Africa and her people.

Kaluma praises Raila

Earlier on, Kaluma had heaped praises on Raila, describing him as the ideal candidate to steer the AUC agenda.

Sharing his sentiments through his X account on Saturday, December 14, 2024, Kaluma highlighted his mission to serve the interests of all Africans.

He emphasized Raila’s experience, which positions him as a capable leader, and commended his relentless passion for unity and promoting the collective well-being of Africa.

“His vision for Africa is clear. His mission is right. He aims to serve. His experience is relevant. His passion is unrelenting, unifying, and for the mutual good of all Africans! Baba wa Afrika,” he stated.
