In a Mashujaa Day message, Wiper Democratic Movement leader Kalonzo Musyoka shared his dream of the Kenya he wants.

Kenya is celebrating the 60th edition of the national event, and the former Vice President said he dreams of a country that is inclusive.

Kalonzo’s dream

“I look forward to our next decade, which should, through the lens of necessity, bring about the quality of opportunity where every Kenyan matters and where every Kenyan’s vote is of consequence,” Musyoka said in a statement on X, formerly Twitter.

Musyoka also recalled the tough moments Kenyans underwent when they were struggling and fighting for independence decades ago.

“Long before the State of Emergency was declared on October 20, 1952, Kenyans from across the east and west, north and south, were in unison: end the tyranny of colonialism, regain our heritage and occupied lands, and equally important, our humanity as a free and equally recognized people.

“This was our formal declaration towards independence achieved 11 hard-fought years later,” he added.

Heroes celebrated

Musyoka, who is also a co-principal of the opposition outfit, Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya Alliance, celebrated the country’s heroes.

“To the brave men and women who changed world history forever under such harrowing circumstances and ensured our hard-fought independence against the greatest of odds, we continue to express our thanks and gratitude.

“As we celebrate and acknowledge this 60th Mashujaa Day, may we also pause to reflect on our past and envision the future our forefathers wanted for our great Republic of Kenya,” he concluded.
