Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka has clapped back at President William Ruto following his recent advice to former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju against associating with what he termed fake friends.

In a post on his official X account on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, Kalonzo dared President Ruto to prove to Tuju what he described as true friendship.

On his part, Kalonzo called on Ruto to order the immediate withdrawal of police from his hospital room at the Karen Hospital in Nairobi.

“William Ruto, you called us scavengers. If Tuju is truly your friend, prove it: STOP THE DAYLIGHT LAND GRAB. Respect his rights, and order the immediate withdrawal of police from his hospital room,” Kalonzo said.

Ruto to Tuju

Kalonzo’s remarks come moments after President William Ruto spoke on the events surrounding the former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju.

Speaking while addressing the residents of Nyanza, Ruto stated that Tuju needed honest friends. According to the president, Tuju was being misled by his political rivals in the opposition.

“Tuju needs honest friends and advisers. They told him to go and hide in his bedroom and lie that he had been abducted. They are seeking prominence from Tuju,” said Ruto during a roadside rally.

“We want Tuju to be advised so that he can secure his property and move forward. He does not need those people.”

Tuju’s outcry

Meanwhile, the former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju has filed a certificate of urgency at the Milimani High Court Criminal Division, seeking orders restraining the presence of police officers beside his hospital bed.

Tuju’s lawyers informed the Kibera Magistrate Court that he had been rushed to the Karen Hospital today for treatment after sustaining injuries while at the Karen Police Station.

The former Cabinet secretary was slated to plead to a charge of giving false information to a person employed in public service before Kibera Chief Magistrate Stellar Atambo on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.

In the application filed at the Milimani High Court, Tuju wants the Inspector General of Police (IG), the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) to keep off his hospital bed.
