Reactions to KCSE results
After a long wait, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba released the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination results on Thursday, January 9, 2025.
The CS indicated that some 965,512 candidates took their KCSE exams across 10,755 centres last year.
After releasing the results, he advised the candidates to access individual results online through a link on the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) website (https://results.knec.ac.ke).
However, the website crashed minutes later. Candidates are expected to continue receiving their results on Friday, January 10, 2025.
Parents, schools and candidates are also expected to continue giving their feedback on the results this was after CS Ogamba announced that 840 candidates found to have engaged in exam irregularities had their results cancelled.

Parents and schools affected by the directive are expected to come out and voice their concerns even as another 2,829 candidates wait to know their fate.
“The results of 2,829 candidates suspected to have been involved in exam malpractices have been withheld pending completion of investigations that should be completed within 30 days from today,” the education minister announced.
Nonetheless, top candidates and schools are expected to continue with their celebrations all over the country as some 1,693 candidates scored grade A, while those who attained the minimum university cut-off grade of C-plus and above were 246,391.

Vetting of ambassadorial nominees
On Friday, January 10, 2025, the Departmental Committee on Defence, Intelligence, and Foreign Relations will vet nominees for ambassadorial, high commissioner, and diplomatic representative positions.
The nominees are expected to be vetted at Committee Room 9, 1st Floor, Main Parliament Buildings.
Among the nominees is Margaret Nyambura Ndung’u, the immediate former Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy, who was nominated as Kenya’s High Commissioner to Accra, Ghana.
She will appear before the committee, chaired by Belgut Member of Parliament Nelson Koech, at 9:00 a.m.
Dr. Andrew Karanja, the immediate former Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock Development, who was nominated as Kenya’s Ambassador to Brazil and is scheduled to appear at 11:00 a.m.
Ababu Namwamba, the former Sports Cabinet Secretary, who was nominated as Kenya’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in Nairobi, will face the panel at 2:00 p.m.
Former Deputy Inspector General of Police Noor Gabow, nominated as Consul-General to Port-au-Prince, Haiti, will conclude the vetting at 4:00 p.m.
On Thursday, the departmental committee on Labour conducted approval hearings for nominees to fill vacancies at the Public Service Commission (PSC).
Among the nominees was former Principal Secretary for the State Department for Public Service, Mary Wanjira Kimonye, who has been named the new Vice-Chairperson of the PSC.
She was joined by six other nominees for commission member positions: Harun Maalim Hassan, Boya Molu, Irene Cherotich Asienga, Francis Otieno Owino, Joan Andisi Machayo, and Francis Meja.
Ruto development tour
After visiting a section of the western and Rift Vallet region on Thursday, January 9, 2025, President William Ruto is expected to continue his development tour on Friday, January 10, 2025.
The Head of State is lined up to launch several projects in Uasin Gishu County and the vast Rift Valley region including electricity, water, roads and learning institutions.
He commissioned the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), Kerio Valley Campus during the tour. Earlier, President Ruto commissioned Liter Girls High School in Tot, Marakwet East, which was destroyed by a mudslide five years ago.
He called on parents to take advantage of the institution and take their children to school.
In Tot, the President issued 10,000 title deeds and announced that adjudication for 20,000 more titles is in progress.
Later, President Ruto inspected construction works of the 30km Kapcherop- Kipkundu-Kapyego-Kamelei road in Kibirech.
He also inspected the ongoing construction of Kapcherop Technical and Vocational College in Elgeyo-Marakwet and broke ground for the construction of Moi’s Bridge-Matunda Water Supply Project in Soy, Uasin Gishu County.
On electricity, the President said Ksh500 million has been allocated for Last Mile Connectivity in Kakamega County, adding that the funding will be increased by Ksh600 million in the next financial year.
