Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba has said the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam results will be released in the next 10 days.

In a statement on Friday, January 3, 2025, Ogamba revealed that the results would unveil a new chapter in the lives of hundreds of thousands of candidates who took part in the nationwide examinations.

“In 10 days, the KCSE results will unveil a new chapter for thousands. Let this milestone remind us that every path forward holds limitless potential. Aspire, believe, achieve,” Ogamba noted.

The remarks come just days after the CS stated that in keeping with tradition, the KCSE results would be released by the second week of January.

“The KCSE examination results will be released within the next two weeks.  Traditionally, the KCSE exams were normally announced in January and we are keeping to that tradition and we are releasing them within the next two weeks,” Ogamba stated on December 31, 2024, during the presidential end-of-year address at the Kisii State Lodge.

While the marking of the exams ended on December 13, 2024, the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) is expected to release the much-anticipated results in the next ten days.

No KCPE

Ogamba noted that typically, KNEC would release the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination results in December but the year 2024 saw no such examination.

“The exams previously released in December were the KCPE results, but this year, we did not have that examination. This may have led to some confusion,” Ogamba remarked.

The 2024 exams saw over 965,000 sit the exams in the 10,755 exam centres throughout the country.

Knec also warned that candidates who engage in cheating will be held personally responsible for the offences and will not be used to punish an entire school or examination centre.

Exam irregularity

Over the years, candidates at examination centres or schools with irregularities had their results cancelled or withheld.

The exams officially began on October 22, 2024, and ended in November 2024.

In a previous interview, CS Ogamba revealed that the examination body would be cross-checking and verifying the entries and results before they are released to minimize errors.

Previously, the results would be announced days after the conclusion of the marking but the 2024 examinations which registered the highest number of candidates saw a departure from the long-held tradition of faster release of results.
