It’s celebration time for Makarao animation series
Online comedy channel Makarao is celebrating a milestone, after hitting 50,000 YouTube subscriptions.
According to Mfalme Studios, which is the production house behind the Makarao animation series, the milestone affirms there is a big audience for original and authentic African animation content.
“We are excited to grow this viewership and reach new audiences across the continent, although there have been numerous challenges.
Our goal is to grow our audience across other East African countries where we have an established online following,” Mfalme Studios business development manager Boniface Mwalii told Spice.
He added that the Covid-19 has dealt a blow to the production’s plans. He said: “We had planned to release Season 2 of Makaro earlier this year, but some of our key partnerships were paused due to the economic slowdown, which meant that we had to adjust our plans accordingly.
In response to that, we opted to maximise on digital platforms and have since released our Makarao TV mobile app that is currently available for download on the Google Playstore.
We hope to resume production as soon as the situation stabilises.”
