Isaac Mwaura trashes reports that Jevanjee Gardens has been auctioned
Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura has dismissed recent reports that Jeevanjee Gardens, a public park in Nairobi, has been auctioned off by the government.
Speaking during a weekly media briefing on Monday, November 11, 2024, Mwaura clarified that these claims are baseless and were likely intended to provoke Kenyans and garner attention on social media platforms.
Mwaura condemned those spreading the rumours, emphasizing that the government had no intention of selling the historic space that is cherished by Nairobi residents.
He urged Kenyans to remain vigilant against misinformation and warned that some individuals deliberately spread falsehoods to mislead the public and incite anger for personal gain.
He also noted that the reports were just meant to tarnish President William Ruto’s name while fueling public outrage.
“I’ve heard someone saying that the public grounds of Jeevanjee Gardens have been sold. Let me tell you, my brother, you know yourself, those are just baseless rumours, stories of your imagination. No grounds have been taken by the government, and it’s not right to tarnish President William Ruto’s name,” Mwaura stated.
Adding;
“Some people are used to spreading lies and rumours just to make Kenyans angry so they can get traffic on social media. We condemn you, and we ask Kenyans not to listen to these lies.”
