IEBC lists services available to Kenyans during voter registration exercise
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has outlined a range of services available to citizens during the ongoing Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) exercise, as it seeks to boost participation ahead of the 2027 General Election.
In an update released on Monday, April 6, 2026, the electoral body confirmed that the 30-day registration drive will run until April 28, 2026, offering Kenyans an opportunity to register as voters, transfer polling stations, and update their details.
Key services available
The IEBC announced that eligible citizens can access several services during the exercise, including:
- Voter Registration: New voters can register at designated centres across the country, including County Assembly wards, universities and colleges, Huduma Centres, IEBC constituency offices, and the IEBC Customer Experience Centre at Anniversary Towers in Nairobi.
- Transfer of registration: Voters wishing to change their polling stations can apply for transfers by visiting the IEBC constituency office where they intend to vote.
- Correction of voter details: Those seeking to update or correct their personal information are required to visit the IEBC office in the constituency where they are currently registered.
- Inspection of registration details: Kenyans can verify their voter registration status by visiting any IEBC constituency office or using the commission’s online verification portal.
- General electoral information: The commission also encouraged citizens to seek additional information through its constituency offices and official social media platforms.
Areas excluded from exercise
However, the IEBC noted that the ECVR exercise will not be conducted in certain electoral areas due to ongoing by-elections and election petitions.
These include Porro Ward, Endo Ward, Emurua Dikirr Constituency, and Ol Kalou Constituency, where by-elections are scheduled, as well as Malava and Mbeere North constituencies, which are currently subject to election-related court cases.
“NB: ECVR shall NOT be undertaken in electoral areas with scheduled by-elections (Porro Ward, Endo Ward, Emurua Dikirr Constituency and Ol Kalou Constituency) and ongoing election petitions (Malava Constituency and Mbeere North Constituency),” IEBC stated.

The commission further urged all eligible Kenyans, particularly first-time voters and those who have relocated, to take advantage of the exercise within the stipulated period.
The ECVR is a critical step in preparing the country for the next general election, ensuring that the voter register is accurate, inclusive, and up to date.
Electoral integrity
The announcement comes amid heightened public scrutiny over the credibility of the voter register, with various stakeholders calling for transparency and accountability in electoral processes.
By providing clear guidelines on available services, the IEBC aims to streamline the registration process and enhance public confidence in the electoral system.
