Ida Odinga attends ODM Nyanza delegates meeting in Bondo
Raila Odinga’s widow Ida Odinga, is among the guests attending the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Delegates meeting held on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Oburu Odinga’s rural home in Bondo.
The meeting has been convened by the new acting party leader, Oburu Odinga, who handed the party’s leadership, albeit in an acting capacity, days after Raila’s death on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.
Ida made her way to the venue moments before the official start of the meeting.
Party unity
The meeting brings together delegates from the four counties of Migori, Kisumu, Homa Bay, and Siaya, with discussions to consolidate its hold in the region and other important party issues set to take precedence.
The foregoing comes days after Mokbasa Governor Abduswammad Nassir confirmed that the party was scheduled to host its first Central Committee meeting on Monday, October 27, 2025, following the passing of party leader Raila Odinga.
In a statement on Thursday, October 23, Nassir explained the purpose of the meeting.
Planned party meetings
He highlighted that three items will be on the central committee’s agenda.
The first point focuses on upcoming by-elections, which the party views as critical to maintaining unity and securing victories against opponents who hope to exploit internal divisions.

“Agenda ya kwanza ni kuhusiana na maswala ya by elections ambazo zinakuja. Maadui zetu sasa hivi wanatamani tuweze kusambaratika ili tusiweze kuhakikisha tumekuwa na ushindi.“
The second agenda item will focus on ODM’s 20th anniversary celebrations and commemorating Raila Odinga’s 80th birthday achievements.
The third agenda item will assess progress on the 10-point agenda signed with the government. This review will ensure accountability and track the implementation of the party’s agreed priorities.
“Kuna mkutano ambao tutakuwa nao siku ya Jumatatu ambao ni mkutano wa kwanza ambao kwamba Daktari Oburu Odinga atakuwa ni acting Party Leader,” he said.
Nassir added that after the Central Committee meeting, ODM MPs, Senators, and Governors will convene with party leaders to discuss internal conflicts and agree on a unified way forward.
He added that Monday’s meet-up will set the direction for ODM in this transitional period, ensuring the party honours Raila’s legacy while addressing pressing political and organisational matters.
