Govt urges Kenyans to be cautious amid conflict in DRC
The government has weighed in on the ongoing attacks affecting Embassy premises and personnel in Kinshasa, DRC.
In a statement shared by Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary (PS) Korir Sing’oei on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, the government condemned the incident saying the attack on the aforementioned premises was a serious breach of international law.
While criticising the attack, the government urged Kenyans and business people to exercise caution during this period.
The state also called on relevant authorities in the DRC to intervene on the matter and take appropriate action.
“We are deeply concerned by the ongoing siege and attacks on Embassy Premises and personnel in Kinshasa, DRC, including the Kenyan, Uganda and South African Embassies, by marauding protesters who are voicing their discontent on the conflict in the Eastern Part of that country.
“This development is a serious breach of international law and we condemn it in the strongest terms possible. We call on authorities in DRC to take appropriate action. We implore Kenyan citizens and business people to exercise caution during this period,” the statement reads in parts.
The state further expressed solidarity with the DRC and promised to use all diplomatic means to ensure peace prevails in the country.
“Kenya stands with the DRC during this challenging time and will use all diplomatic means within its disposal to work with the rest of the region in the search for peace.”
