Go for jabs to avert deaths, former MP tells Kenyans

Former Thika Member of Parliament (MP) Alice Ng’ang’a has urged Kenyans to get vaccinated against the coronavirus disease (Covid-19)

The MP said there is a need noted for all Kenyans to be inoculated to boost their immunity against the virus.

Speaking after she got vaccinated on Sunday, the former legislator insisted that the vaccine will not only help Kenyans from getting seriously ill should they get infected but will also avert rising deaths occasioned by the high viral loads as witnessed in the third wave that Kenya is currently grappling to unmask.

Ng’ang’a maintained that the vaccination process is not only simple but is also less demanding and thereby urged Kenyans for go for the doses.

The former lawmaker pointed out that the benefits of the COVID-19 vaccines greatly outweigh mild potential side effects and inconvenience that infected Kenyans have had to bear.

“The possibility of serious complications for anyone who gets the virus — along with the public health consequences of the pandemic’s continuing its course are strong reasons in favor of getting vaccinated. I urge Kenyans to chose safety and thereby go for the jabs as their health is most important,” she said.

She made the remarks even as the country continues to battle the shock waves of the virus among them a weighed down economy, interrupted social life, stalled political processes among other things.

Continued rise in positive Covid-19 cases resulted in imposition of a new lockdown which among other things led to movement restrictions within and outside Kiambu, Machakos, Nakuru, Kajiado and Nairobi Counties where the spread is reported to have spiraled.
