Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot has come to the defence of President William Ruto amid sharp criticism over his governance.

Addressing a congregation on Saturday, November 30, 2024, Cheruiyot said citizens should give Ruto more time for him to deliver his manifesto as promised during the electioneering period.

He opined that it was unfair and unreasonable for Kenyans to complain of poor governance when the president has only been in office for two years.

The Senate Majority Leader noted that citizens voted for the president to rule for five years, therefore, they should patiently wait for Ruto’s term to end before they criticize him on his achievements.

The senator similarly underscored that all leaders including MCAs should also be granted more time to fulfill their promises.

At the same time, Cheruiyot heaped praises on Ruto’s governance stating that he was doing all it takes to make Kenya a prosperous nation, he also confidently stated that the country was progressing towards the right direction.

The vocal senator similarly defended the controversial Social Health Authority (SHA) saying it is a good health scheme that will help Kenyans and better the country’s health system.

The senator also called on journalists and other leaders to mobilise Kenyans from all walks of life to register for the health scheme
