Saboti Member of Parliament (MP) Caleb Amisi has asked President William Ruto to apologise to the nation following a spate of reported abductions.

While asking the Head of State to apologise he also wants him to make sure the abducted are released.

“A revolutionary mood is set by very few people in dark alleys in small corners, who believe in changing the status quo. It then spreads like Australian forest fires, and before you realise a regional hegemony is down as a pariah nation. Williams Ruto, Kenyans innocently endured scotching heat and rainfall to elect you, hoping their lives shall be protected by the government you formed.

“You and your hedgemen have chosen arrogance and threats. This might get heavy on you.

“You will carry the bad legacy alone. This is not a request. Please get these youths from the hands of abductors and apologise to the nation,” Amisi said in a post on X on Monday, December 30, 2024.

The legislator said he has chosen to tell the president the truth because even his colleagues in the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) cannot do so.

“I’m the only one from @TheODMparty with tight balls to tell you the truth. The rest must observe table manners. They don’t care whether the same table breaks down or not, they will continue eating from the ground.

“Kenya needs a renaissance!” he added.

LSK’s stance

Amisi’s statement directed to the president comes after the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) and other human rights bodies took a similar stance.

“The President’s undertaking that all those that have been abducted will be released is a confirmation that the @NPSOfficial_KE has in its custody all the individuals reported as abducted. The ignorance feigned by the @IG_NPS must, therefore, come to an end.

“We call for the immediate release of all those abducted. We continue to take detailed accounts of all acts of aggression and repression against the people.

“As we call on the police to act in accordance with the constitution, we invite members of the public to report all incidences of actions to the contrary through our provided channels,” LSK’s President Faith Odhiambo said in a statement on her X account.

The police and demonstrators also clashed in some towns in the country during the ‘End Abductions’ protest on Monday, December 30, 2024.
